George Rawlins was born in a coal mining town and grew up on a farm in southeastern Ohio. He received a B.A. from Ohio University in English Literature, Creative Writing, and Chinese Studies, attended the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, and received an M.F.A. from the University of California, Irvine. He is the former editor of Sensor: A Magazine of Sensitive Destruction and has published poems in numerous literary magazines. He has written poems in multiple personalities and instigated a number of literary farces. He lives in California with his wife, the photographer Constance Rawlins, and works in the San Francisco Bay Area.
